Cornerstone Bible School Handbook

This Bible school is committed to the purpose of Bible study and to aid in bringing individuals to “the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.” All may attend from any group or denomination that are committed to the study of the Word, are living a life of holiness, and desire to participate in practical Christian service.

Students must be willing to co-operate in upholding the standards of the school and working with the administration.

Tuition will cover room and board for the term, any required study books, a Program CD, and an annual. If the tuition cost is a hardship, please contact us for assistance. A $100.00 deposit must be paid at time of the application. The deposit will only be refunded if the application is canceled before November 1.

Term 1: February 8 - 26, 2027
Requirements: Minimum age 18 years old by end of term.
Tuition: $825

Term 2: March 1 - 12, 2027
Requirements: Minimum age 20 years old by end of term or have attended Cornerstone Bible School previously.
Tuition: $1,100

Statement of Purpose

Cornerstone Bible School was founded for the purpose of the following:

To present the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ in its completeness and to deepen understanding and appreciation for it.
To develop personal Biblical conviction, and thus promote conservative applications to Bible doctrine and principles.
To build personal enthusiasm for Bible study and a love of the Truth.
To assist young people in preparing for effective Christian service.
To promote an appreciation for Anabaptist distinctives.

To aid in the accomplishment of these purposes, we appreciate your attention to and compliance with the following:

Standards and Regulations

A. Dress

As Christians, we desire to be careful followers in the kingdom of Christ. Two of the areas of difference in the kingdom of Christ and in the kingdom of the world are in appearance and conduct. All are expected to dress in a manner that is a testimony to the doctrine of holiness. We feel that it is important to practice separation from the world, and a degree of uniformity. The following guidelines are given for all students attending this Bible school. Exceptions because of one’s personal convictions need to be approved by the administration prior to arrival.

For Sisters:

Dresses shall be of modest design and color. Print materials with a prominent print size larger than one inch is not permitted. (Plaids, strips, and etc, included)
Dresses shall not be of sheer, shiny, or form-fitting material.
Dresses with tie belts are not allowed.
The length of the dress is to be at least halfway between the knee and the ankle, also avoiding styles of excessive length.
Sleeves shall extend below the elbow.
Hosiery shall be of black tones. Black, dark shades of grey, blue, or brown knee socks are allowed when the wearing of tennis shoes is permitted.
Booties, anklets or short socks of any kind are not allowed.
Sweaters and jackets shall not be worn in a form-fitting manner and shall be consistent with the above dress guidelines.
Short-waist sweaters, and sweaters with long ties shall not be worn.
Denim material for a sister’s wardrobe is not accepted.
The hair is to be combed neatly, avoiding present-day fads of hairstyles.
There shall be no cutting, trimming, or curling of the hair.
The European style veiling is the pattern to be used at Bible school, and shall be of consistent size to adequately cover the hair.

For Brethren:

Shirts & jackets shall be of solid colors, long-sleeved, and not of sheer materials or flashy colors and design.
Shirt collars are to be kept closed during all church times, chapel services, and class times.
Neckties are not to be worn.
A plain suit coat shall be worn for services and witnessing activities.
A black belt shall be worn.
Solid color socks of darker colors are required unless other colors need to be worn for health reasons.
Trousers shall be loose fitting and of darker shades; casual type pants, including pants with external patch pockets are not permitted.
Jeans and western wear is not permitted.
Hairstyles are to be a tapered cut with side-burns above mid-ear.
Fashionable and present-day fads of hairstyles are to be avoided.

For Brethren and Sisters:

All shoes are to be black. Boots or boot style footwear will not be permitted except for outdoor weather wear. Other footwear required for health reasons should be cleared with the principal. Tennis shoes of other colors are permitted for recreation.
Watches are for timepieces and not for jewelry. Gold watches, or silver or gold watchbands are not allowed.
Vests are allowed as weather protection, but shall not be worn for chapel services and class times.
Students shall adhere to home church regulations where they are a higher requirement than the Bible school standard.

B. The Dining Room

Students are not allowed in the kitchen except for assignment or by permission from the cooks, matron, dean, or principal.
The exercise of courtesy and promptness at mealtime is important.
When excused after meals, all students who have not been assigned to do dishes should leave the dining area promptly.
The dishwashing schedule will be planned by the dean /matron and should not be rearranged by the students without permission.
If you cannot be at the dining hall for mealtime, it must be cleared with the principal.

C. Dormitory Life

Respect and co-operation will go a long way in making dorm life enjoyable. All must respect the personal property of others.
Each student will be expected to do their part in maintaining orderliness and cleanliness by keeping their personal belongings in place and having their bed made neatly each morning prior to chapel.
Students should be discreet and properly attired at all times within the dormitory rooms. Pajamas and nightgowns are required.
Dorms are to be quiet during class and study times.
"Lights Out" signals the termination of all activities and snacking.
All students will need to provide their own pillow, bedding, towels, and wash cloths.
Bed assignments will be made by the dorm supervisor.

D. Campus Maintenance

Students are expected to help with the daily cleaning and maintenance of the buildings and premises, and should come prepared to participate.

E. Leaves

No student is allowed to leave the school grounds without permission of the principal. Students must always “check out” when leaving and “check in” when returning.
No weekend leaves will be permitted.
Leaves for weddings and funerals may be permitted.
Leaves of this type shall have prior parental approval and shall also be approved by the principal.

F. Social Conduct

We encourage good, relaxed relationships. Nevertheless, a proper reserve keeps these relationships respectable and enjoyable.

Dating:

Dating will be permitted. Dates are limited to 1 visit per week and shall terminate by 6:45 p.m.
Students must be at least 18 years of age to date.
Permission for dating at the Bible school must be cleared with the principal.
A hands-off policy between brethren and sisters is the expected standard of this school.
If dating is done off campus there shall be a chaperon or another couple to accompany them.

General:

Physical games shall be supervised by someone appointed by the principal.
There shall be no games during class periods, study times, or meal times.
Skits, plays, and drama are not permitted.
We ask that there be no electronic games or video games brought to the school.
Card games (e.g. Rook, Pit, Dutch Blitz) are not permitted.
All games shall be played in moderation and with respect for others. Some competition is appropriate; but the belittling of others and striving for professionalism is detrimental to good relationships.
These activities are for the purpose of enjoyment and recreation.
Practical jokes and pranks at the expense of others can be hurtful. Thus care needs to be exercised so as not to hurt or offend others.
Personal cleanliness is to be maintained by each one.
Courtesy is expected even as we develop closer relationships.

G. Punctuality

Students should co-operate closely with the school, and attend all arranged activities.
It is important to be punctual for meals, classes, chapel services, quiet time, and bedtime, etc.

H. Reverence

An attitude of reverence shows respect and regard for God and others.
Boisterous behavior is unbecoming and is to be avoided. Unnecessary noises are to be avoided.
There is to be no gum chewing during chapel sessions or in class periods.

I. Music, Electronics, Etc.

Radios, portable audio devices, and musical instruments shall not be brought to Bible school.
Only a cappella music will be permitted while at school. Any CD’s, tapes, or other recorded music in the possession of Bible school students while at the school shall meet this requirement and are subject to inspection and approval by the principal.
Electronic games, computer games, and such like are not permitted.
Earphones and headsets are not allowed for personal use. Use of headphones for recording, for a language study or for an assignment is by permission only.
Cellular phones are to remain off and not be used during chapel sessions, class times, or study periods, quiet time, or after lights out.
Computers may be used for study and word processing.
Laptop computers are to remain turned off during class periods.
Permission must be obtained from the principal for any other desired use.
Any internet use must be under the supervision of the principal.

J. Automobiles

Driving habits and manners are important. Observance of laws and regard for neighbors is part of our witness.
Sports cars and sport equipment on vehicles is to be avoided.
If vehicles are not used properly or are equipped in a way that hinders Christian testimony, there may be restrictions on their use while at Bible school.

K. Library

The library is to be available for use by anyone and users must help to keep it quiet at all times.
Books may be taken from the library only with permission.
If possible, frequently used reference books should be brought from home for personal use.

L. Photography

Pictures for exchange must be cleared with the principal or the matron prior to any exchange of these pictures.
Proper posture and dress is important in those pictures that are to be given out.
It is expected that sisters be wearing cape dresses and brethren the plain coat on their pictures.
Care and discretion should be exercised in the photos that are taken and/or shown to others at the Bible school.
Video Cam Recorders are not to be used.
There should be no flash photography during any worship services or closing programs.

M. Class Requirements

Students are required to take a minimum of three classes unless other arrangements are made with the principal.
A change of class after you have attended a class period must be cleared with the principal and the respective teacher.

N. Statement of False Teachings

The promotion or teaching of false or questionable teachings will not be tolerated.
We recognize that we do not agree with all statements in various reference books and encourage that care be exercised in our use of study helps.
The King James Version will be the standard text of the Bible school.

O. Visitors

Visitors are welcome to come to the Bible school.
Visitors will be expected to conform to the Bible school rules.
Visitors will need to respect the schedule of the Bible school.
If visitors plan to be at the Bible school for more than a day, there may be a boarding fee. Please see the principal for a sheet with fees and schedules.
Visitors will need to inform the principal of their schedule in order for the cooks to plan for meals, etc.
